Bringing the world’s best restaurant to Moon Palace Cancun
El Celler de Can Roca Experience, a one-of-a-kind culinary journey, in partnership with Three-Michelin-star Chef, Joan Roca, and BBVA Bancomer, was held at the newly-renovated, “La Trattoria,” located on the Jack Nicklaus golf course at Moon Palace Cancun on May 8th and 9th. The exclusive dinners benefitted the rebuilding of schools in Mexico City that were destroyed during the country’s recent natural disasters. The 18-course tasting menu began with handpicked appetizers featuring delicacies from around the globe. The delicious menu consisted of bites from Mexico – bite-sized tomatoes filled with guacamole and tomato seed, Japan – Nyinyonyaki made of miso cream, Turkey – Lamb stew made with yogurt, cucumbers, chives and mint, Peru – Traditional potato dish, Causa limena, and Korea – Tempura with pancetta in a soy sauce with kimchi and sesame oil. The second selection of appetizers included: Margarita Bonbons, Toasted corn tortillas with chocolate and sea salt, Shredded Chicken “Tinga” Omelette, Starfish and Steamed Brioche with huitlacoche mayonnaise. The gastronomic journey began with a lovely salad featuring fresh greens and went on to highlight a fusion of flavors from Mexico to Spain including Lobster with a black mole salsa, Corvina with a green mole sauce, Candied “Cochinita” in a chipotle chile salsa among others. Guests ended with a sweet finale including Mexican Chocolate Anarkia. Over the course of three days, Joan Roca and his team of culinary experts welcomed journalists during a press conference that was held at UNIQUE nightclub. During his stay, Roca toured Palace Resorts newest gem, The Grand at Moon Palace Cancun, including CEDIS – the brand’s central food distribution center and also gave employees a motivational lecture, during which he told the story of his family’s history, shared words wisdom, encouragement, and culinary secrets. Roca topped his visit with an exclusive lunch for VIPs at The Grand at Moon Palace Cancun’s Chef’s Kitchen.
